Grades 3 and 4, offered in October, May and June
Join us, as we explore the Gatineau Park forest and discover some of its distinctive plants: from the humble mosses of the forest floor to the stately trees that tower overhead. In this dynamic program on the Sugarbush Trail (1.6 km), students will discover the many ways in which plants meet their needs for survival.
We will be outdoors, rain or shine, so dress appropriately and come prepared to spend up to 90 minutes outside.
Group size:
• 25 students per reservation (one nature interpreter per reservation).
• Need space for more students? You can book two concurrent programs in the same time slot to welcome up to a total of 50 students.
Times:
Programs are offered exclusively during the following time slots:
• Morning: 9:30 am – 11 am
• Afternoon: 12:15 am – 1:45 pm
Your nature interpreter will meet your group at your scheduled start time. If your group arrives late, the activity will be shortened to stay within your reserved time slot. If you choose to stay after your program to explore the display in the visitors center or make use of the adjacent outdoor area, your group will be responsible for their personal belongings.
Check in:
Please present yourself at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre (33 Scott Road, Chelsea), where a member of the Gatineau Park staff will greet you. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your program if you would like to have time for a snack or using the washrooms before your hike.
Lunchroom access:
The lunchroom can be booked free of charge for the following times:
• Morning groups: 11 am – 11:30 am
• Afternoon groups: 11:45 am – 12:15 pm
Morning groups must depart their lunchroom by 11:30 am. Please leave the lunchroom in the condition that you found it, so it is ready for the next class.
